Great show. Not usually a binge watcher, but watched the last 8 eps in one go. One thing that bothered me though...

I finally got around to watching this recently and just finished it. Glad I did. It's one of the best series I've seen, however some things that happened as it neared its end were just a little too implausible. I was able to go along with most of Walt's moves and plotlines to that point, but I had to question some things at the end.

Hank being determined to bring Walt to justice made sense for a lot of reasons, but once he got a full confession from Pinkman, you'd think they'd have been able to make an arrest. OK, there wasn't a smoking gun yet, but there was a lot of evidence to confirm Pinkman's story, like the Walt Whitman book, not to mention Skylar would probably have started talking once she saw that they had Pinkman. And if they recorded the call between Pinkman and Walter (and why wouldn't they?), they would have had their hard evidence. Why not call in reinforcements at that point, since they had him dead to rights?

The only thing I can think of is that Hank was determined to put the cuffs on Walter himself. Hank had a fairly big ego, but he wasn't that stupid. He knew Walt had found a way to have ten different witnesses whacked in prison at the same time, among other things. At the very least, someone as savvy as Hank seemed to be would have thought to hide some of his strongest evidence away for his friends in law enforcement to find in the event he was killed.

There were a couple of other things like that, but the one that bothered me the most was the Nazi leader not only letting Walt get away, even though Walt could incriminate him. The gang leader didn't really know for certain whether or not Hank and his partner had left behind something that might lead the DEA to Walt. Yes, it turned out that Hank had left everything in his house and they were able to get it all, but they didn't know that, then. But on top of that, they generously give him back about ten million dollars. Yeah, his nephew wanted him to do that because he liked Walt and I guess saw him as a father figure, but I still found it very hard to believe considering everything the Nazi leader had done to that point.

Anyway, a great show. It just seemed like they'd written themselves in a corner a little bit, and their characters ended up doing some out of character things to get them out of it.
