“This is Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen,

Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regnant of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons”.

"This is Jon Snow. He's King in the North."

Ser Davos is the best. 😎

I know right! That line was one of my favorite parts of this episode! Ser Davos is awesome!

reply

Indeed! A great moment in today's episode!

reply

I loved that part, LOL. Davos never disappoints.

reply

Davos was the MVP for that scene. He is great at arguing Jon's case, just like he did with Lyanna Mormont after she smacked down Jon and Sansa.

reply

He did the same for Stannis with the Iron Bank. I wish I had Ser Davos with me on sales pitches!

reply

I thought Jon did pretty well himself when Dany came at him very haughtily with that "what does perpetuity mean?" business, demanding his loyalty. He basically came back with "oh, yes, let's talk about who's owed what shall we? For my part, I'd certainly argue that when your father burned my grandfather and uncle alive, he pretty much absolved our house of its loyalty to the Targaryens. Yes, I'd have to say that betrayal and murder cancels loyalty." Dany backpedalled pretty hard when he brought that up.

Every line from the guy is a great mix of truth and humor.

Tyrion: "We fought on opposite sides in the Battle of Blackwater Bay..."
Davos: "Unluckily for me!"

reply

Yup! And Bronn is also a guy whose every word is a mixture of truth and humor, but Bronn's truth is always horribly cynical and Davos's truth is good and decent. It's very difficult to make a good and decent person funny, so congrats to Liam Cunningham and the writers.

One of these days Davos is going to lose it, though. Put him in close proximity to Melissandre (who burned Shireen to death) or Tyrion (who apparently doesn't realize he killed Davos' son with wildfire at Blackwater) for a while, and I think that we'll see a whole different side of him.

reply

Yeah, we'll see him in a state of righteous anger, and I don't think Melisandre will resist him if he comes to kill her. She knows what she's done, and all the other horrible things she's done, and frankly I think after all these hundreds of years she's tired of living.

Incidentally, I don't think Davos will get into much trouble if he kills the Red Witch, if any. Jon Snow knows what she's done, and he exiled her to protect her from Davos. If she disobeys him and comes back and gets killed, that's her fault and not his. IMHO the worst Jon would do is "exile" Davos to his own home.

Tywin Lannister: Any man who must say, "I am the king" is no true king.

reply

I think the old lion would have made an exception for introductions.

reply

It would be so funny if the person introduicng her was like “This is Daenerys of the House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, The Unburnt, Queen of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Men, Queen of Meereen",.....sigh umm...drinks a gulp of water, "Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, Protector of the Realm, Lady Regnant of the Seven Kingdoms, Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons”.

reply

Davos has much easier job than Missandei. :)
