What?

I am still trying to work what exactly occured in Winterfell. When did this plot start?

Littlefinger tried to get Sansa to turn on arya but he grossly underestimated them. Probably could have talked his way out of it but he didn't know about brans power. Maybe bran would've kept his mouth shut if beamish had proven to have changed for the better and hadn't tried to turn sisters against each other. But in light of baelishs actions here, it seems bran figured littlefinger needed to go so he told Sansa everything about how he fucked Ned.

We don't know exactly when it started because it all happened offscreen. Obviously Bran saw all of Litterfingers past actions and he told Sansa. you notice Bran was sitting next to Sansa when Littlefinger was brought to trial. he thought he had her fooled but he did not know that Bran knows everything.

Not only that, but he never dreamed she had the guts to accuse him of murdering Lysa, not when she perjured herself after the fact. By leading with that, she broke all his rules and shattered his expectations, and that's why he made an immediate miscalculation. If he'd denied murdering Lysa instead of confessing it in an attempt to win Sansa back, the Vale knights might have protected him.

Well-played on Sansa's part, she actually spent a lot of time setting him up - making him believe that she trusted him and saw him as her only friend and confidante. She successfully played a master player.
