Didn't Cersei give the nod

When Jaimie Challenged Cersei's threat to kill him she turned to the Mountain and nods her head to take the order. Jaimie looks at her somewhat shocked and then says, "I don't believe you" and walks past the Mountain and the Mountain does nothing, Why?

reply

Obviously because she had instructed the Mountain, prior to their meeting, to threaten Jaime but not actually kill him.

reply

She probably told him to draw his sword but not to kill him.

I think that nod was just a "get ready" nod. Ser Gregor does nothing on his own initiative, he didn't even chop off the head of the wight who was trying to rip into Cersei - because his queen never told him to. She would've had to actually command Gregor to "Kill him!" before he would attack Jamie.

Given that Cersei just revealed her plan to Jaimie, I was really surprised that she just let him leave. She would have to think he could end up back with Tyrion and end up telling him. I was expecting him to get hunted down after that first snowflake.

Anyhow, I couldn't understand why Cersei keeps calling it treasonous that Jaimie met with Tyrion. Jaimie was led there by Bronn who didn't give him advanced warning; wouldn't he have mentioned that? Or was he protecting Bronn?

"Anyhow, I couldn't understand why Cersei keeps calling it treasonous that Jaimie met with Tyrion."

It doesn't seem reasonable, but then Cersei does not seem to be a particularly reasonable person. She may have been once, but I think she has a naturally vindictive streak, and it's getting worse, she's getting more malevolent the more she tries to hang onto the power she's seized. I think Jaime is quite aware of it as well, and I think at this point, he still loves her, but he no longer likes her very much. I think he also realizes she's embarked on a suicidally dangerous course of action. He even pointed out to her that if the dead win, they're all doomed, and if their living enemies win, those enemies will remember the betrayal, and they have dragons and a bigger army. What's more, both Jon and Dany have the genuine loyalty of most of their followers, while Jaime is probably literally the only one who is selflessly loyal to Cersei.

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if the popular theory that Jaime will kill Cersei (just as he did the mad king, and for the exact same reasaon) proves to be true.

I don't think Jamie will tell all, just that Cersei refused to send her army as promised but that he came anyways because he swore his support. Besides which Cersei does love her brother. It would be difficult for her to order him jailed or killed. It was a good idea for Jamie to get out ASAP after that conversation though, because she could change her mind about letting him go at any time.
