What was the moment this show Jumped the Shark?

Sand Snakes?

reply

All the fast travel in the last season did it for me. I don't even use fast travel in video games as much as the characters do.

It's an ongoing series of stumbles

* Sand Snakes and Dorn storyline
* Ramsay Bolton outwitting all the previously smart characters
* Waif stabbing Arya / Jaimie sinking into the river in full armour (the equivalent of The Walking Dead's "Glenn under the dumpster" moment)
* Death of Littlefinger
* Kidnapping the zombie

Sometimes I wonder if the decline began when Tyrion was smuggled away to avoid execution. Still good stuff after that episode but the shine started to wear off and the famous “any character could die at any moment” claim started to fade.

Episode 1.

Sue me.

Season 1, Episode 1.

The timeline was always horrible. Everything happened within in like two weeks, then they would try to pretend like a year had passed.

The absurd raid on the Dreadfort

They had people stumbling around the Riverlands for two seasons and then people going 3x the distance in one episode last season.

When Euron Greyjoy built a fleet of a thousand ships, including his massive flagship, in the space of a few months and from trees that don't exist on the Iron Islands--or along the Stony Shore of the North.

And then, he uses that plot-hole fleet to take out Daenerys' Dorne fleet and abduct Lady Sand and Yara Greyjoy, and then in the same season, just a few days later, he swings around Westeros and takes out Greyworm's fleet at Casterly Rock.

The entire Euron character was rolled in without any character development, was entirely rushed, and overpowered to the point where it's not believable, at all. To simply suggest that Daenerys Dorne fleet wasn't on the lookout for the Lannister fleet or King's Landing fleet or anything on their way to Dorne is ridiculous. Daenerys Dorne fleet was massive, it wasn't just a handful of ships, and now it's completely gone.

That is when the show jumped the shark. Oh and when we found out that the gold from Highgarden just passed through the gates of King's Landing when Daenerys attacked the Lannister army, and that very same gold will bring in 20,000 idiots from Essos to do Cersei's bidding.

We all saw what Ramsay's 20 good men did to Stannis' army, now we're going to see 20,000 Golden Company company decimate Daenerys army. It's just lame already. At this point, the show can end with the White Walkers winning because anything else will just result in Cersei and Euron keeping the Iron Throne right to series end.

reply

Is that what the spoilers are saying, that the Golden Company destroyed the Dothraki/Unsullied and Dany needs to rely on others?

reply

No idea, that's just my guess based on how upside down Season 7 went. I just hope whatever happens, that the Golden Company isn't the threat to Dany/Jon after the White Walkers.

I hope the White Walkers are the primary threat all the way to the end.

reply

I get it, but this crap they threw on if the Night King dies, then they all somehow die means that it will likely be tidied up quickly. All they have to do is kill him, not defeat the army.

reply

Yeah I noticed that. I wonder if it will be a one-hit wonder and all the walkers just topple over, or will there be something more to it.

reply

People tend to over look Euron's miracle feets cause they thought Dany was the one too overpowered. So they let Euron's victories go unscrutinized. Fans complaints are never balanced or rational lol

reply

OMFG, Euron's magic armada was REALLY hard to swallow. He wasn't menacing, just conveniently annoying.

"Thousand" in GOT isn't a literal thousand. It means "a lot". It's used several times in both show and books, like a thousand times. Theon and Yara took their best ships, not all of them.

Time jump within episodes is nothing new.

Euron in the books isn't any better. He's a typical pirate, complete with the eye patch.

Season 5. That is when I stopped watching.
