Yara returning to the Iron Islands

Seems she's going back to prep them in case Daenerys needs to hide out there.

Made me think of something. I'm not saying I think this *will* be the ending, but what would be a creepy ending. If those who survive to indeed flee to the Iron Islands to hide, and try to wait out the winter. As they're there, their resources slowly dwindle, and in the distance on the shore, they see the Army of the Dead slowly amassing, growing ever larger, watching them. As winter drags on, there's an ice shelf slowly creeping toward them, which the Dead know they can use.

For all we know, the Dead can walk across the floor of the ocean like the undead pirates in the first "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, and the Iron Islands would be no refuge!

And I didn't really get how that went down. Sure, Theon and his pals took out the people who were guarding her and went off with the ship they were on, but is the rest of the fleet following them? If so, why? Are they just supposed to follow the nearest Greyjoy or something, and not kill Yara and Theon out of loyalty to Euron who's making them rich?

reply

Yara tells Theon that Euron couldn't defend the Iron Islands with all his men and ships in King's Landing so she was going to take the Iron Islands. So I assume that implies Euron's fleet stayed behind.

reply

So where's her fleet? Are there captains who are willing to follow her, and if so where are they? Off pirating somewhere while they wait for her to be freed?

Betcha that's never explained, betcha she just shows up in the North and conquers the Iron Islands and does something vital in the war against the Dead, and there's a fleet behind her whose presence is never explained.

Yara's fleet was almost entirely wiped out by Euron when she was captured last season. I say "almost" because there was the Yara-loyalist ironborn ship that rescued Theon. But we're led to believe that ship was the last of the Yara-loyalists who were ready to go retire on some island somewhere after massacring all the men and taking the women. That was when Theon asserted himself over the crew by giving the captain a beat down and embarking on their nighttime guerilla ambush of Euron's ship to rescue Yara.

Yara explained Euron left no one to guard the Iron Islands so no conquering is needed. She can just go there with her remaining loyalists and fortify.

Surely the Iron Islands are the last place on Earth... that planet that would roll over for a conqueror? Everyone's a badass there, if someone tried to take over the island while the fighting men were away, all the old men and boys would come out with their rusty leftover swords and the women would come out with their kitchen knives, and they'd fight off any invasion because that which is dead can never die.

But maybe when Yara lands, all the women will come out with their kitchen cleavers and knives and declare her queen.

Don't know if that might happen or not...

Personally, I just want to see some more shots of Yara's ass.
