The way things have played out, the 'Great War' now just looks like a plot device to weaken Khaleesi's army and make Cersei a formidable opponent
Before the War, Khaleesi would have destroyed Cersei 's stronghold within a day :
Dothraki + Dragons + Unsullied etc etc etc V/S a paid-to-fight army and NO ELEPHANTS

shareBasically. The thing that gets me is that Daenarys could have fought and defeated cersei in such short time that they would still have time to prepare for the great war against the dead army. There would have been no need to go beyond the wall to capture a single wight and therefore Daenerys still has her dragon and the wall is still standing and. In the end it is basically all Tyrions fault.

Tyrion was basically made to be an idiot after he failed Khaleesi twice ... to be honest, it wasnt his fault. Because Khaleesi would keep on throwing hissy fits and suggesting various ways of how to get herself killed. Poor Tyrion was probably wishing that he could slap her like he did Goffery and snap her out of her delusions. Instead, he was forced to make uncharacteristic mistakes
Unless ... you mean. Its not a mistake, and he actually made a deal with Cersei to have things play out exactly like this. and now he gets Cersei to kill a weakened Khaleesi, and then Jamie to kill Cersei and stake a claim to the Throne !! Now that I can get behind
Now it's starting to click for you...but it wasn't a "deal with Cersei". It's knowing his sister like the back of his hand, that she was lying about sending help north...combined with getting Khaleesi to fall in love with Jon.

With Khaleesi and Jon 'sealing' their pact on the ship ride back to the north, and the last shot was of Tyrion standing outside the cabin door with a look of what some thought was apprehension on his face. “Game of Thrones” is over, Bran Stark is — improbably enough — King, and Tyrion Lannister is his Hand.
Some fans were disappointed by this, either because Bran is an underwhelming choice (Sansa was right there and ready to rule — come on, Tyrion!) or because it was too happy a conclusion.
But maybe Tyrion was the real winner.
Since Bran is barely a person, thanks to his weird magic powers, Tyrion essentially gets to be the shadow ruler — just as his father, Tywin, once was.
It seems that the reason Bran was chosen was that D&D wanted to empower disabled people in wheelchairs. Not kidding.
This was one of the changes in RR Martin ending. He's not really happy with it.
They needed to get rid of the Dothraki since they were problematic in terms of the feminist goals of the show. They've kind of just spent the last few seasons brushing them under the rug and pretending they're basically just another ex-slave army loyal to Dany out of respect. When it was established that they're just savage rapist conquerors and there's no way they would have stuck with her this long. The show conveniently leaves out the parts where they would be raping all the women at each Westerosi town they marched through
shareYeah pretty much. One of the worst things about it is that it makes the negative fallout of Tyrion's horrible council to Daenerys all the more catastrophic. They could have swiftly dealt with Cersei with minimal loss of resources and men & dealt with the dead later at much less of a cost.
Now the blame for every major present & future loss can be squarely placed at Tyrion's feet even more so. A shame how the writers turned Tyrion into an utter incompetent for the sake of plot convenience. Even more laughable is how the writers recently glossed over Tyrion's absolute failures by having Jorah & others inexplicably giving Tyrion their vote of confidence when he was finally about to be justifiably canned for his many colossal f*ck ups because "Come on! He's a cool guy" . He's basically been Cersei's MVP.
I agree. I still love it that Arya killed the night king. AWESOME. She is my favorite character. Also Daenerys.
