You cannot take this movie seriously thanks to the insanely stupid decision to CGI out Superman's moustache.

I actually like this movie for the most part, but every close up of Superman was cringe-worthy. What a dumb decision.

even without the cgi you can't take it seriously. The whole Superman fighting the Justice League has got to be one of the worst sequences in film of all time.

Yes, it had to be digitally covered because he couldn't shave, but it was so poorly done that its become a massive joke.

When they insist on having so much CGI in these movies, the quality gets lower and lower. Even Steppenwolf looks videogame-y. It would have been so easy to just have an actor in good makeup. So, with all the CGI, I am not surprised that the mustache removal became so (bleeped!) up.

These movies are like watching the Cut Scenes compilations from videogames on YouTube.

That is really dumb, he could have shaved it off and then glued on a fake mustache, modern makeup can do that, the audience would not have noticed. I think the film studio used this as an excuse to do some creative accounting, it is called tax evasion and the IRS can't do anything about it. A lot of film studios make up their budgets so they don't have to pay taxes.
