Great documentary!

WW2 as experienced by Americans. It’s told through personal stories, so don’t expect much the broad tactical / strategic standpoint, or much French, or Russians, or British. There are other documenaries for that . This one focuses on how the war affect Americans fighting and at home.

If you like the Ken Burns style, such as in Civil War, that’s what you’ll get here. A word of warning though - some of the vintage photos or films shown can be disturbing. Those aren’t CGI pixels, those are real dead bodies being shown.

I’m writing this in spring 2022. Not sure where the world is headed, but hoepfully we’ve learn from history and aren’t doomed to repeat it.

So, many years ago, on a June 6, I casually asked around the office where I worked if anyone knew the significance of this day, back in 1944. I got a lot of blank stares. Nobody knew, NOBODY… except for one ex-marine who sat quietly and smiled at all the blank stares.

Sad. If we don’t know or understand our history, we are doomed to repeat it.
