Samurai Film in the tradition of Kurosawa

According to Wikipedia, that's how Mamet describes it.

I'm always skeptical of re-makes, but what do you think of Mamet re-tooling old Kurosawa stories? He doesn't even have to focus on the Samurai films. I would trust Mamet to make a decent modern day re-make of Rashomon or any of the other detective movies by Kurosawa.
