No 53 on The Times Top 100 Films of the Noughties

My girlfriend and I are watching through a list of the top 100 films of the last decade (from The Times newspaper) and this was at number 53.

First off, its not our list we're just watching through it to check out some films we wouldn't otherwise see (good and bad) and re-watch some classics from the decade.

Anyway...

It's a bit disappointing to see the threads on this board turn into a debate about homosexuality rather than talk about the film. Seriously, who cares?! I thought it was a good film. I actually couldn't believe the ending was real - I had to go check it up on the net just to be sure. Brokeback Mountain is also on the list so we'll be posting on which film wins 'The Battle of the Gay Movies' ;)

We are scoring the films as we go along to give our take on the list. If you're interested, you can keep up to date with our progress (and see the The Times' full list) on our blog at:

I really liked this movie, it was largely authentic, and didn't try to portray Milk as a blameless martyr. It was quite moving.

BBM has stunning cinematography, but the relationship between the leads is hollow and utterly devoid of chemistry. Heath Ledger manages to make a few moments ring true, and delivers one amazing scene near the end of the film, but overall I just can't figure out what all the fuss was about.

I am the sod-off shotgun.
