Dan White's Family

Another posted asked about this in another. That poster mentioned an article that mentioned during the filming of Milk, Dan's oldest son Charlie met with Gus Van Sant and Sean Penn briefly.

My boyfriend wrote a research paper on the Milk case and trial for a sociology class he was taking last year. My bf at the time had access to the NewsFile Collection database which was under NewsBank online services. Dan's second child Rory who was conceived during a conjugal visit was born with Down syndrome and the third child was born after Dan's prison release. I In the articles my bf found on the database it was mentioned that during Dan's imprisonment his wife struggled financially and often received help from people in their neighborhood. She did continue teaching at an elementary school and for awhile she tried to keep the Pier 39 business running.

Afer Dan's suicide people in their neighborhood held a few benefits for the family which were publicized and even Milk's friends said they had sympathy for the White family. Dan's wife supposedly still lives in the same SF home where he committed suicide. I think it is possible that she and the three children might have legally changed their names or used assumed names. I also think Rory might not be aware about what his father did.

Dan White's son was present during the filming of the baptism scene. His concern, I'm told, was that his Mother be portrayed in a fair light. From what I understand, he had no objections to how she was portrayed, and I've never heard that he had any other issues with the film.
