Will the Zombies ever decay?

I stopped watching TWD back in season 5 or 6 I think and now we have this new series that's supposed to focus on people who grow up after the apocalypse, meaning at least a decade has passed. So how are the zombies still there? What do they eat? Who mows the lawns?

As for the lawns, those are kept short by the vegan zombies. You know, some zombies actually are health conscious, have morals and care about this planet!

I don't think we'll ever find out who mows the lawns, but maybe they'll at least finally tell us what Dr Jenner whispered in Rick's ear at the end of TWD season 1.

Maybe it will be part of the children's school history lessons.

as zombies age their skulls get softer but the teeth get harder. Some fan boys will explain that as people die they refresh the zombie hoard.
