It's set in the Outer Banks, but it doesn't capture the essence of the region

I grew up around there. spent a lot of time on those waters. I thought this show would bring me back...but it doesn't. I can't quite put my finger on why. Plenty of the beach scenes didn't look right, and perhaps its because they filmed in South Carolina, where the shoreline and vegetation is different than OBX.

Aside from that, the characters seemed shallow shallow and unbelievable, so it was hard to identify with or relate to any of them. Finally, they almost never held any one shot for more than a few seconds. making it all seem herky jerky. Netflix has put out a few good shows that had at least one or two great seasons (e.g. House of Cards, OITNB), but this isn't one of them.

It wasn’t bad. It’s popular because the 2 leads were very attractive younger people. Tho the lead is 27 portraying a 16 yr old. I think the girl is 21. There will be a season 2 I’m sure.
