the way the book was written (spoilers)

Ok, so the full bible written in braille is 38 volumes, weighs something like 40kg, and costs about 1000usd to create.

If you look to the left of where Lombardi placed the Bible on the shelf you will see the Tanakh, the Hebrew Bible. Not to mention other holy books.

This suggests Eli did not need to be carrying the entire Bible as parts were probably already being protected on Alcatraz.

Who's to say the book wasnt just one of the 38 volumes or even a single chapter? At the end when he says he has a king james bible to get into alcatraz Gary oldman has the book. The Bible is Eli (The film is called "The Book of Eli") as he has memorised it. Nothings says he didnt memorise all 38 volumes and he just had the one piece that was left with him

True!
10 points to Ravenclaw.

"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"

Yeah that was a plot goof, you can't fit a braille bible into a single book, it would be 3 feet thick.

I know this is an old thread and I have brought it up in more current ones, but it would've been an even bigger twist if Solara's mother had read the braille book and read outloud, "The book of Habbacuck." Then Carnegie interrupts her and says, "What? Habbacuck? You mean it's not the whole bible?" Then Solara's mom who may have lived before the apocalyptic event says, "Yes. Did you not know how Braille works? This is just one out of the many books of the bible. It is useless to you since it's so far into the old testament that you won't be able to make people understand it." Then says the lines she already said. I admit I have never read the book of Habacuck and also haven't read a lot of the later old testament books after Daniel. I of course have read the story of Jonah. Probably the most known book of the later part of the old testament.
