Thought this post was wishful thinking on you behalf.

Turns out it's actually happening. Bizzarre. These films have raked in the dough, you'd think for the 'final chapter' that they'd try go theater exclusive to maximize profits. Halloween Kills did well in theaters considering it came out during COVID and was on Peacock from day one. But still, it only made a little over half of the 2018 film.

I'm not complaining mind you, but I can't believe they're going for a day one on streaming for this film.

I think there are a few reasons they are doing this

1. Boost Peacock subscribers since the sevice is failing hard right now

2. Kills had the same release strategy and still managed to have a $50 million+ opening and this was also at a time where theaters were still struggling and the box office hadn't gotten back to normal yet. With the box office is better shape right now I could still see this opening as much if not more than Kills and keep in mind too a lot of people don't have Peacock and won't subscribe for just one movie.

3. Kills didn't have great reception and based on Ends test screenings this one isn't going to get good reviews either. With the negative word of mouth from Kills and expecting the same for this, there is a chance it could also open worse than Kills and are opening to recoup some of that money through Peacock subscriptions.

This all sounds correct.

Subscribers to Comcast/Xfinity cable plans still get Peacock for free.

means it must be as bad as Kills. Sad.

I, for one, love this! They are doing what they did with Kills hoping that they will still get a decent theatrical turnout while also catering to those of us who don't want to go to theaters. I think it is a great move and think it was a great move when they did it during COVID stuff!

I feel so sorry for anyone who went to the cinema and paid to watch this abomination.

A film like this shouldn't be allowed to be released theatrically.

This was as bad as "Curse of Michael Myers." Abysmal. POS
