Trailer Impressions

It's actually better than I was expecting. I like the twist with the place swapping, it adds something unexpected that has been lacking from most phase 4 movies (spider-man excepted) which have been bland and predictable.
Carol Danvers clearly got demoted in the trailer, Monica Rambeau seems to be the main character and Kamala Kahn is the sidekick. Captain Marvel seems more like a supporting character.

The basis of the great storytelling of the Inifinity Saga was the character work. Everything starts with characters. If you care about them, then you care about the things that are happening to them. And the characters should drive the plot. The things they do should make sense with their character at all times. And the interactions between characters should make sense and be satisfying.

This is why MoM failed, Wanda's actions didn't make any sense, Doctor Strange didn't have anyone to bounce off, The Illuminati would shoe-horned in for 5 seconds just so Wanda could kill them.
Hardly suprsing considering it was Written by Waldron, who also wrote Loki, which is the worst offender of all when it comes to sloppy character work.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier trampled all over Bucky's charcacter because it prioritized woke sermonizing.

Hawkeye is by far my favorite phase 4 production so far, Clint's character was done justice, Kate played off him perfectly, and Yelena worked perfectly into the mix. The one big downer of the series was King Pin, again the character was sacrificed for plot device purposes. I wish they would just remake that episode and fix King Pin, he didn't really affect the main plot any way, so it could be easily done.

Despite it's flaws, I liked a lot of the character work in the Black Widow movie, Yelena was of course great and Red Guardian was cool too. It didn't do any harm to the wider narrative either, unlike Captain Marvel, Loki, MoM, The Eternals and so on.

It looks like Kamala Kahn is more or less a Peter Parker character in the Marvels.

I have a sense of who Monica Rambeau is from Wandavision, and her character in the trailer seems to be in line with that.

I have no idea who Carol Danvers is, so it's probably good that she is the third wheel here. They seem to have tried to make her more light-hearted. Or at least put her in more humurous situations. It's hard to see where to go with her though.
