'your stepsisters'??

How exactly are Bree and Britt Mary's stepsisters? Last time I checked Mary's mom was one of Dominique's dancers and when she died Dominique took Mary in. Unless Mary's mom and Dominique had something going on between them, I doubt "stepsisters" is the right name for Bree and Britt maybe more like "sisters" or just Bree and Britt or something

I think since Dominique was supposed to be playing a "motherly" role to Mary. After Mary's mom died she took her in, gave her shelter, ect. Therefore she refers to her own daughters as Mary's stepsisters.

^wouldn't she actually be considered as the adopted sister instead of stepsister?

True, but they couldn't really call her "adopted sister" either since Dominique hadn't adopted her (thankfully, since she obviously was not a good mother). Dominique wasn't Mary's mother, step-mother nor adopted mother, but you could say she was her foster mother. But it would probably sound strange to use the term "foster sisters", even though possible, so maybe they thought it would sound better to say "step-sisters", even though that's not completely true

I agree,
