I don't blame Dakota Fanning.

According to the trivia page, Dakota and Elle Fanning were originally going to be Kate and Anna. But Dakota refused to shave her head.

I don't blame her. I am a guy who has grown into how I look, I focus a lot on my appearances. And I have a thing about baldness, even on men. I like hair. And Dakota Fanning is a really pretty girl. Even though it would grow back, I agree that Fanning would not want to shave her head. I'm the exact same way.

I'm no actor, but if I had a role as a cancer-stricken patient, I would not take it if I had to shave my head. Nor would I be willing to wear a bald cap (which I was relieved to find out that Cameron Diaz wore, and not shave her head). I am that into how I look.

Although, what I'm curious about is why Elle Fanning had to leave the movie just because Dakota did. Abigail Breslin played the role very well, but if it was Elle, I wonder what it would have been like.

"What happened to my sweet girl?"
"SHE'S GONE!"

I am amazed at your insensitivity. I just watched this movie and I am just shocked at how you can say this. Playing in a big Hollywood movie with a cast as good as this one, any young actor should know that they are incredibly lucky, to say the least. And to say that that actor would have to shave their head, which, as you mention, would grow right back, doesn't seem to be that much of a sacrifice. And what about all the youth who don't have a choice? You are obviously a narcissist.

The level of your vanity and insensitivity is disgusting! You should be ashamed of yourself.

Keep that attitude and you will be the only one into how you look. That kind of vanity negates any physical attractiveness.

I don't blame her either..

People like you are a cancer.

“How do you propose you get my death eaters into your little daycare center?”

reply

Okay, what's wrong with people.
I wouldn't do it either, it's not like I don't support cancer or admire cancer patients, but I wouldn't shave my head unless it's a really good reason. For a loved one, but I wouldn't do it for a role in a movie, it's just not worth it for me.

you know, people who shave their heads for movies make millions off of those roles, if someone offered me millions, sure, I'd do it...but you know, some people shave their heads for less, like when a loved-one has cancer...

I guess it's all perspective.. but I feel that people had no right to criticize someone's priority if they don't choose to shave their head for money.
and I did that, sorry.

I know this is old, but I think people jumped a little ugly on the OP. Bottom line, an actor has a choice to take a role. They may have to gain weight, lose weight, shave hair, nudity, etc. It is up to them to determine if they want to do the role for the money. Sure the OP is a bit vain but they didn't have to crucify him for being honest.

You clearly understand nothing about any of the issues you mentioned.

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, I agree. It's like if an actor was told to gain or lose weight for a role. They should have the choice about whether or not they change their appearance for a role. On the other hand, it's kind of privileged. Kids with cancer don't choose whether or not they lose their hair, so turning down a role for that reason is a bit selfish.
