I just asked James Gunn on facebook if this is still happening. This was his response.

"Not really, no. The script is still there, but I walked away after I got my divorce. It was very dark and it wasn't what I wanted to be working on at that time in my life."

You want to talk to God? Let's go see him together, I've got nothing better to do.

Just talked to him at a comic con in Omaha, he is totally excited about this movie and is just waiting for the release date!

I saw it today at TIFF and it was really good! I believe the North American release date is set for March 17, 2017.
