As seen on Transworld Sport today

This will be a great film not just because Steve Coogan will be playing the lead but because of Eddie's story before, during and after the Olympics.
He didn't just give up as most people thought. What people didn't know perhaps, is that as a result of Eddie's fame the British, commonwealth, national, international skiing and sports bodies, including the IOC stopped eddie himself, or another athlete like Eddie, from being able to enter and compete in the Olympics like Eddie did ever again.
"Why should somebody who came 58th, be more popular than the person who came 1st!...they [the sport organizers] effectively banned me from competing again..."
This is a story of the everyday sportsman who achieved his life long goal of competing at the highest level, a dream all amateur sportsman have, to then face the real competition, not the other competitors skills, but the Establishment's arrogance and predjudice in the face of the modern Olympic ideals of today.

Eddie was my hero. I was in high school during the Calgary Olympic games, I watched every minutes I was able. I heard about the British jerks that made sure that someone like Eddie never competed again. Well, Eddie may have come in 58th, but he did something I never would be able to do. I'm so happy to hear that they're going to make a movie about him. Very Cool!
