Christian themes

In the first half of the movie or so, it seemed like there were distinctive Christian themes. For example, the main character kneels down to pray; his daughter's apartment has a cross in it; there's a crucifix that is conspicuously in the same shot of the man as he talks about how he left his brutal life behind after a conversion of sorts; and he drinks water and avoids certain sexual situations.

Of course, he then goes on a kind of un-Christian rampage in the second half of the movie, so I'm not sure whether the director really wanted to highlight Christian themes or not.

Maybe this movie was based on a book? That would explain some things...

~After enjoying that movie, I figured I would drop by IMDB to read about its problems.
