I loved this movie, and it fixed several problems I had with every live action Spidey adaption so far. But that scene was a bit of a missed opportunity. So picture this.
It would have been BADASS if after Venom disappeared, that bartender might have said “oh no, people are vanishing again”. And then a blonde haired muscular guy with a buzz cut arrives. The bartender, startled, asks who he is and where did he come from. “My name is Eddie Brock!” to which the bartender responds “I think that other guy said his name was Eddie and that he’s gonna go see Spider-Man.”
The “true” Eddie of this universe says “I hate Spiderman!” as the black alien goo left behind from the other Eddie starts to bond with him. I would have lost my mind if that happened. Might have been too much though haha. Overkill perhaps.
But at least now the symbiote was left behind and knows exactly where to find Peter so that it can go bond with him for a while creating the black suited Spider-Man (sort of for the third time in this continuity), absorbing his powers and secrets, and later merge with a more comic accurate Eddie. Hopefully.
Maybe Mac Gargan will become Scorpion later too. He briefly appeared a couple times in Homecoming, complete with a scorpion tattoo on his neck. That’s the route I thought they were going when Jameson hired someone to spy on Peter, just like he did with Mac in the comics. Too bad he wasn’t in this one, could have been the sixth villain and complete the Sinister Six that they almost had. Either that, or The Vulture could have returned. But oh well, this film still exceeded my expectations and then some, delivering everything I could have wanted and more.
Okay, that’s enough rambling. Sorry about the overly long text.
