Ben Affleck as Matt Murdock cameo would have been EPIC

Since they had no problem bringing back Willem Dafoe and Alfred Molina from early 2000s superhero films, why not Affleck as Murdock INSTEAD of Charlie Cox? NOBODY would have seen THAT coming!

Everyone is talking about Charlie Cox's cameo and I was like "meh, so what?". He JUST played him in a recent MCU TV series. We already know the MCU TV shows and movies are always connected and characters crossover from the TV shows to the movies and vice versa all the time. Big whoop.

Affleck's return to the role would have been much cooler. And since the film's plot revolves around the multiverse, they could have certainly done it without it feeling forced. Peter Parker goes to see Matt Murdock for legal advise and Affleck's version of Murdock gets sucked into the MCU, goes to "his" old law office, and doesn't realize he's in another universe and can't figure out why Charlie Cox's portrait is on the wall.

That WOULD have been fun!

If they had done that, they should have had Favreau as Foggy Nelson. Imagine Peter's confusion when he thinks he's talking to Happy.

Interesting, I had forgotten Favreau played Foggy in the 2003 movie. It would have been a little tricker making Favreau looking like he did in 2003, but the payoff would be worth it.

I don't think they'd have to de-age Affleck or Favreau. They'd be like the Spider-Men who came through as older than when their movies came out.

He's blind. He wouldn't be able to tell what photo was on the wall.

reply

LOL, i didn't even think of that when i read the original post.

That's a good idea except Affleck's Daredevil doesn't know Spider-Man is Peter Parker so that would violate the rule of the movie.

reply

Ehhh, good points above that Daredevil is blind and wouldn't notice Charlie Cox's portrait, and that Daredevil is not aware that Peter Parker is Spider-Man (though you COULD retcon Affleck's Daredevil as taking place in the same universe as Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man). Oh well, a clever re-write would fix those issues, and Affleck's Murdock & Favreau's Foggy probably wouldn't have more than a 5 min. cameo in the movie anyway.

reply

It would have been a good twist but Marvel is really trying to distance themselves from the Affleck Daredevil movie as it as most people hated it, including Affleck.
