If the games were supposed to be entertainment for the VIPs then why (spoilers)

If the games were supposed to be entertainment for the VIPs then why would they set the players up to kill each other in the bunk room?

I can see maybe early on to cull the herd and make an event of it for remote viewing, but as the games went on, it seems like potential for the VIPs to miss the "action."

This is especially true at the end when they provided them the steak knives at the last meal. Were the VIPs expecting to stay up all night watching nothing happen in the event that one of the remaining players would try something? That makes little sense and would be boring.

I would think that the final game would be more exciting with three players rather than two. And what if one player killed both of the other two on the final night? Then the grand finale would be pointless.

I can't see why they would even bother with the steak knives there.

Yeah, that's a good point.

The weakest element, in my opinion, was the VIPs. Their motives and personalities were more cliche than a lot of other elements in the show. It was FAR more interesting, as Black Mask says, that it's about "fairness". That bizarre psychotic altruism is far more unique and interesting than "we're betting and bored billionaires," which I've seen in a LOT of other films and TV shows.

I can see the midnight riot, because they set that up and the VIPs weren't "live" watching, anyway, but yeah, the steak knife thing is weird.

The exception, for me, was the "Final VIP", which I thought was interesting enough that it worked.
