How did Caleb start living in that trailer?

I just started watching this show and and at first he was a ranch hand at both heartland and Ashly's mothers ranch. Then the next I know he is living in a beat up trailer on a small piece of land. Who ones this land? He said the trailer is his, but it looks like it's been ther awhile.

I know I missed something along the way, even when Ashly's brother wasn't there anymore.

One thing I didn't miss was the changing of Soraya after the second episode.

Loving this show, I had horses growing up and I love watching it when I want to see wholesome entertainment. I didn't want to watch this show for a very long time because of the pilot intro about a horse being abusesd.

I can't remember too clearly as to how he started living in that trailer but I think he already owned it, and the land's owned by Ashley's mother.

Later on as Caleb got into financial problems, he loaned money from Jesse (Ashley's brother) so to make things right, Valerie (Ashley's mother) gave Caleb the exact amount of money needed to buy the land and he did as such. Caleb could have run off with the cash (on a cheque) and live elsewhere but why do that! It's a lovely rural area. 

P.S. Season 4 to me truly felt like where the series was originally intended to end but due to the popularity CBC decided to keep on making more seasons and now we're up to Season 10 (not that great but entertaining, imo).

It starts off with Caleb living in the trailer on land owned by someone else unknown. Its was never made clear whether the trailer was originally his or not. Caleb never work at Briar Ridge. After he married Ashley, the owner of the land where the trailer sat put the land up for sale. Ashley's mother then bought the land and you can assume the trailer too that sat on it and gave it to them as a wedding present. After his divorce from Ashley, Caleb apparently got the land in the divorce settlement. Jesse tried to get it back by putting Caleb in debt to him and placing a bank lean on the land but then Val, Ashley's mom, gave him a check to cover the debt thereby allowing him to keep the property.
