The Shoe

I'm curious what other people thought of the significance of the shoe standing on end.

I thought it was just a strange anomaly to be happening in the middle of a strange anomaly. Like an anchor for Jupe to hold onto that was his alone. A flashbulb memory that would stick with him and would never be discussed because it was so insignificant in the context of what was going on.

It stuck with him so much that he had it on display in the same way in his memorabilia room. I think this happens a lot with traumatic experiences where people remember a smell, sound, etc. that has nothing to do with what's going on but they focus on it to dissociate a bit.

What did everyone else think?

Gordie was gay.

I thought the shoe had some relevance that was to be revealed in later moments. Then I realized it had not, and it was a pointless scene that had no impact on the movie whatsoever. Then I realized Peele is a retard. The end.
