The latest 'so bad its bad' movie

Twitter, RT, the internet etc hath spoken , Madam Webb is one of those once on a generational disaster movies, like where all things come together to produce one of those 'so bad its bad' movies, it bombs, reviews become who can trash it best fests, the cast becomes a laughing stock, marketing is ridiculed (see https://twitter.com/NovaMania17/status/1758552008011784196), everything and everyone associated gets tainted (in some cases don't get other jobs for a while), the series or genre has to be put on ice for a while in some cases takes years to recover (although in superheroes case no seem likely, but then again this is the latest recently of superhero movies that have drastically missed the mark, but this seems to be the most lol disaster so far.. )

theres plenty of them in recent memory: Showgirls, Last Action Hero, Batman & Robin, Fantastic 4 (2015), Morbius ..and now Madame Web!

reply

Last Action Hero hardly should be grouped with those other movies.

reply

Dunno that Web is going to develop the cult following that Showgirls later did either

reply

Showgirls is like watching a car crash. I just can't look away (plus Gershon is insanely hot).

reply

Amen, in regards to Gershon

at the time LAH was a major bomb and embarrassment for Arnold. I know bc i was there at the time living it all, (saw it at cinema). Its only in recent years ppl have considered it quite a cool 'meta' movie ahead of its time (probably due to 90s nostalgia kicking in )

reply

I also saw LAH at the cinema. Always thought it got an undeservedly harsh reception.

reply

I WAS ALSO THERE AND THEN AND FALSE...LAH GROSSED ALMOST 138 MILLION ON AN 85 MILLION DOLLAR BUDGET AND RECEIVED LUKEWARM REVIEWS...IT DOES NOT BELONG ON THAT LIST AND IT IS NOT BAD OR ANY FURTHER VERSION OF BAD...IT IS GOOD.

reply

The Last Action Hero isn't a bad movie its an underappreciated parody. Yes it bombed when it came out in theaters but it was released at the same time as Jurassic Park.

reply

Its not a bad movie (I hated it at the time, almost waked out half way, but now appreciate its a fun meta movie). And it def got slaughtered at the time. Arnold talks about how gutted he was about it in his biography it was a real set back for him after a decade of non stop movie success, culminating in the mega hit of T2 (but being a sports/winner type guy immediately got back on the horse so to speak and made one of his biggest and acclaimed hits True Lies)

IT ISN'T...YOU YOURSELF ADMIT AS MUCH.

reply

From the reviews I've seen I'm glad it's getting hated equally among both men and women.
