JT, Thomas and Jackson

I'm confused about is this storyline. Thomas was Jax's older brother? How did he die? How old was Jax when all of this stuff was happening? was JT in Jax's life at all? So Gemma had the two boys while she chose Clay over JT? Did Clay raise Thomas? Were all those letters for Jax only?

Jax had to be a small child if he didn't know anything of what happened and Clay raised him.

From my understanding, Gemma and JT were together when she got young and had Thomas. I don't know how old he was when he died, but Gemma had to be much older at that point. She had Jackson and soon after JT went to Ireland and had another kid with Maureen. During that time, she got closer with Clay (but I get confused because I thought she as young when she got with Clay).

Thomas was younger. They show photographs at a couple of scenes.
He had a heart defect. The same that Gemma had, Abel had also inherited it.
JT was cheating on Gemma about time when Thomas was dying. That's when Gemma fell in love with Clay.
Jax was 15 when JT died.

JT must have been a very absent father given the fact that Jax didn't know him very well.

As other posters have said Jax was 15 when JT died. I too find it odd that he seemed to know so little of his Dad.

he was in and out of jail and he kept his real feeling from everyone except piney

He also had another family in ireland. He neglected and cheated on Gemma, most likely he neglected Jax.
