I'm the Vietnam war when the solder came back they we're treated like garage by majority of people.They we're spit on and assulted and treated like outcast. J.T and piney were probably looking for the same brotherhood they felt in Vietnam and also didn't wanna be apart of normal society again after how they were treated. Why do you guys think they made the club.

Well they chose to make the club instead of just hanging out at bars as a group of friends, so they must have wanted the benefits and differences that come from having an official club.
-Having prospects to do stuff for them.
-Having an organized way to make friends and maintain a group of friends
-Promoting their motorcycle business? Don't know how valid that is, but it might make their business more legit if people have an easy way of seeing how enthusiastic about motorcycles they are.
-Rebelling against authority and openly displaying it as outlaws.
-Maintaining a more cohesive group to protect themselves in beefs.
Lots of various reasons why they might choose to forma club.
