I agree with you for once. Theres nothing worse IMO than hamfistedly putting in singers who cant act to bring in an audience. is she better than Rhianna? sure. but so is a ham sandwich.
She is a very annoying actress, like that kid in the shining television series.

I think you should give the girl the benefit of the doubt. She can undoubtedly sing but she can also act pretty good.
Personally, the thing I find most difficult to accept is the choice to make this a musical. I hate musicals. Arthur Fleck is known to be delusional as he did imagine a love story between him and his cute neighbor. I bet half the movie is going to be Arthur's delirium with make believe characters he's gonna dance and commit acts of violence with/upon in a burlesque play on stage in front of a make believe crowd. While in reality, he's all strapped in and the crowd are a small group of psychiatrists observing and evaluating him.
Maybe if the musical scenes are in some kind of trippy hippy music (and viewers are high on weed) it could work. I don't know.
I find Lady Gaga's music to be completely awful. It sounds like generic pop. While I do think she can song, that's not enough for me to want to play her stuff.
But I agree, the musical portion of the film will be Fleck's insanity.
