Landmark movie.

The best movie I have seen(satisfaction wise) since I saw "Saving Private Ryan" in '98. I watched this movie on Netflix completely out of nowhere with no expectations and was totally disarmed. The subject matter, for me, was more romance based then horror but I still got some chills from several scenes. I never choke up at movies but this one got to me because those two pathetic kids hammered home their dependency for each other. The director never dumbed down this movie. He maintained a perfect tone throughout and that little girl's acting performance was "THE" best acting by a child actor I have ever seen (and I include O'Neal, Paquin and Patty Duke) and you know that because it stays with you long after you've watched. She was never acting but really living.

that's great. This is really a wonderful movie that has affected many people people the same way.

Glad you were able to see it.

I do feel the need to comment on the finale (the pool scene). If I was a Hollywood producer I would be putting that director on every independent melo-drama I could find. The guts it takes to make a scene like that shown almost from Oskar's perception is perfection. Maybe it's the European film way, I don't know, but that scene really affected me.

Right, jamric. As a guest on a Swedish interview show soon after the release, Lina said that while they were making the film, she was Eli.

I agree with you. I usually like films from the '60s, '70s, and '80s a lot more than ones from the 21st century. But this is one of the few new horror movies I can really call a favorite.
