This is what Orphan, I'm sure,

is based on. The true story is too similar to the movie, including that the girl tries to kill her adoptive mother:

I found this:

"Despite the alarming similarities between Orphan’s plot and Natalia’s case, the film was actually inspired by the story of a woman named Barbora Skrlova, who posed as a 13-year-old boy named Adam in Norway, according to multiple outlets. "

Well, I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought there were strong similarities between Orphan and Natalia Grace.

This was a very interesting read. Thanks much.

When I read your post and than seen Natalia Grace photo I thought you may be right.
Until I found this article. From the little I read about the case, it is actually amazing the movie wasn't based at Natalia Grace case.

I wonder about the timeline, Natalia Grace case was known before 2009?

Must watch the TV series about her.

From IMDb trivia:

"film closely resembles the real-life "Kurim Case," where a woman, Barbora Skrovlá, was born with a strange type of hormonal disease that made her look like a child. Skrovlá was in the Mauerová family with the name "Anna," and she committed several acts of cruelty. The resonance of the case was Klara Mauerová, the mother of two children, who committed acts of extreme abuse, according to Klara, under "Anna's ideas" and for protecting "her.""

I haven't seen it yet either. I was basing my opinion on what I heard about it. I have no idea when the Natalia Grace case came to light. Hopefully I'll find out when I see it.

The Kurim case sounds unbelievable. I'm not much of a reader but if it's ever made into a movie I would definitely see it.

Apparently there have been more than one adult woman with medical conditions that have passed themselves off as children and were cruel/violent! Maybe even more than these two. Who knows??
