Why didn't the captors on the helicopter simply prevent Paul from talking like they did his mother and put a gag around his mouth? Seems pretty careless not to at least think that MAYBE he has worked on "The Voice" and would try to use it. Heck, he even tried to use it once and it didn't work...would be a huge red flag indicating that he might try again and potentially succeed. They put a gag over his mouth, Paul and mother is dead, movie over. Any ideas why they wouldn't have gagged Paul just in case?

I don't think they knew that a man could have those witch powers.

They didn’t think it was possible for him to have the voice powers

But...he ATTEMPTED to use those very powers right in front of those guys! The first time didn't work...but if I'm a henchman and my life is over if someone nails "The Voice", even though I think it's highly unlikely a man could do it, I'm just gonna gag him just in case anyway. One would most assuredly think: "Heck, he's trying The Voice right in front of me...perhaps he knows something I don't!"
