No re watch factor or re watch appeal

Once you have watched this movie once there is no re watch factor or real desire or reason to see it again. The movie tries to build suspense but the pay off is very weak and quick and the special effects not even that good or scary, the rest of the movie is very boring, dreary, and depressing with no good parts or interesting characters.

It is a shame the director was not given another 10 million dollars or so to make the movie more interesting especially considering JJ Abrams is behind it and it could be linked to the original Cloverfield which does have re watch appeal. There should have been more scenes showing the female character in her every day life and John Goodman character preparing for what was happening, then maybe some more hints or clues of what was going to happen or happening before she got in the accident, the time in the bunker should have been shorter and they should not have made the John Goodman character so miserable and creepy which was unrealistic and a Hollywood cliche of survivalist types. It would have been better if he ended up really helping her with them both getting out and dealing with the invasion. They should have shown her driving, seeing, and listening to what happened and maybe some kind of 3rd act with her meeting survivors, more of the aliens, and explanation.

Instead the movie was just very dark and dreary, not interesting at all once you know what is going to happen, too quick, and there is no real payoff, too much shaky cam, too short, and not even very believable with no explanation or 3rd act involving how she would go on. No reason to watch it again.

While I doubt that I'd watch the whole movie again, I can definitely see myself going back to rewatch basically the first 2/3. And maybe even going back to just watch certain scenes that I thought were great (like the darkly hilarious charades scene or the part where Emmet talks about his bus ticket to college). Goodman's performance alone is worth at least a partial rewatch.

I liked the lack of background on the characters because it made their motivations a lot more ambiguous.

I thought this film wouldn't be rewatchable but I was wrong.

I enjoyed it just as much the second time around. A very entertaining film.

There's a good reason to be outside, as I tell my kids.

That's interesting because this person thinks the exact opposite, hehe:

Just goes to show how different people perceive the same thing differently and how boring these discussion boards would be if we were all the same!
