Which "Comedienne" show is unfunnier?:

"Hacks" or "The Marvelous Miss Maisel"? Both are just utterly abysmal, laugh-less pits of despair.

I've not seen The Marvelous Miss Maisel, but even so, I feel confident enough to say Hacks is the least funny show about a comedian/comedienne I can imagine.

All of Vance's jokes sound like they've been written by a bored team of drama copywriters (which is no doubt the case) rather than by anyone with any actual comedy writing experience.

I got up to the end of ep3 where Ava, who hasn't yet found any of Vance's jokes funny, happens upon a videotape of Vance in 1976, and suddenly starts laughing as though it's comedy gold. It's so fake I felt embarrassed for the actress being made to do that, because without any humour in the jokes themselves, it's simply unbelievable.

It falls totally flat and I won't watch any further.

I do like the blue Rolls Royce though.

Mrs. Maisel has gotten flack for having unfunny routines but I'm able to buy it as comedy much more than the standups on Hacks, where nothing is funny. I despise the supporting characters on Hacks and care nothing for any of their stories. Mrs. Maisel actually keeps me interested.

Fair enough. I actually gave almost 2 seasons to Maisel. The aptly named "Hacks" was 2 episodes.

I find Mrs. Maisel's stand-up act obnoxious, but maybe that is the point? Maybe that's supposed to be a statement on stand-up comedy of the 1950s? But I do like the storylines that happen when she's not on stage. To me the comedy gold is the interactions with Midge and Joel's parents and Alex Borstein is brilliant as Susie.

Smart is often funny on "Hacks", more often in the "real life" parts than in the on-stage routines. On "Miss Maisel" the main character's comedy routines are just "men suck" rants, or rants to embarrass her family, and are not funny at all. It's not believable that she could become a professional standup comic with that material. The main young woman characters on both shows, Ava and Miss Maisel, are unappealing, but Miss Maisel has the advantage of not being a woke hipster.
