international version vs original version

First time I watched this I didn't know there were two version. I watched the original version and the movie instantly became one of my favorites so I decided to buy it myself. Unfortunately I bought the international version and I was so disappointed when I watched it!

The original version is NOT EXTENDED, it's just the real movie the way it was made and the way it's supposed to be seen! The international version however has been heavily cut. There's 40 minutes of relevant scenes completely removed for no reason! I was chocked and upset when I found this out! Remove 40 minutes of footage from LotR, Titanic or Forrest Gump, can you imagine!? It wouldn't be the same movie anymore!

With so many scenes missing the movie feels completely different. There were so many unexplained cuts in the movie I got confused. The whole Wilhemina scene is just a footnote in the international version. For instance the whole reason WHY Khan decided to go to Wilhemina to help the villagers gone (he has a very good reason why this disaster effect him so much) and you don't really get to see what he's actually doing to help these people.

So to all of you who thinks this movie is overrated. If you've watched the international version I do understand this movie doesn't appear to be a masterpiece, but watch the original version, 165 minutes runtime and I think this movie will make a lot more sense.

I watched the original movie too. I was wondering why many people were downing this movie in the forums, I loved it so much. ><

Better not see the international version, then. Don't want to be disappointed.

i'm not sure what version i saw, but i saw a really fake and pretentious crap, let's say there are 40 master piece minutes cut off, i don't think it will make any difference.

My version has the whole Mama Jenny story, I think, since they met, the church scene, the departure and then the disaster when he came back.
I don't know if it's the "original" version (it has bilingual dialogue), but IMHO it was very good until that couple of students spot him with their camera.

Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language
