A REAL San Francisco Movie

This is a wonderful San Francisco movie. With Real San Franciscians. The film is beautifully shot by Award winner Hiro Narita. The Bratt brothers did their home-town proud!

I don't live there so i don't know but just because you don't see it (lowriding) doesn't mean it's dead.

Lowriding used to be huge in my neighborhood too and you hardly see it much anymore but I know for a fact the old car clubs are still around because every now and then you can see the cars pulling in to the local body shop. Also, I still hear the commercials on the radio for the car shows at the fair grounds.

No way it's dead, but a lot of people have moved out of the city and into the East Bay.

I grew up on 30th and mission (my parents still have their house there), and I can tell you that they (the Bratt brothers) did the city right.

Oh and Che was out the game, pure legit now 9well except for the little beat down he gave the guy in the SUV). That's why him and his boy's weren't rocking any red. Not everyone in the neighborhood wears red around 24th either...

I was only a little shocked I didn't see much 49er flair, but the SF (Giants) and 415 gold earrings on the young cat sitting on the stoop with the girls was pretty tight.

I agree. In addition to being a good film, it really hit home with me because of all the familiar street scenes of San Francisco's Mission District. That neighborhood has been a favorite of mine for 35 years & I've walked it more times than I can remember. The film captured the sights & sounds that I love so much about this area, the only thing missing was the smell of the wonderful South American foods that permeate the air.

Although a few scenes seemed a bit staged for dramatic effect (the lowriders and Indian dancers), overall it felt pretty honest in its depiction of what life is like for some locals who make it home. I thoroughly enjoyed this film.

It's pretty rare to see a film so authentically San Francisco these days, and this one does the city proud. Unfortunately, the cinematography is worlds better than the performances and plot in my book. This feels like more of a travelogue than a narrative.

I enjoyed that as well. I love those murals, and I wish the film could have incorporated more strongly the theme of some of the most important ones, the violence in El Salvador. Could have fit well with the movie storyline about violence.
