Total amounts spent by the Yankees and the Athletic
Towards the end of the movie when Billy Beane is talking to the GM of the Boston Red Sox, he says something to the effect of it costing the Yankees $1.4million per win compared to it costing Oakland $260,000.
How are these figures arrived at? Is it simply the cost of the players roster for that year? Would the higher price of coaching staff at New York be included as well..? What about smaller issues, for instance the Yankees possibly having a higher travel budget allowing their team to travel in a little more luxury than Oakland?
Or, is it just a basic guideline based around the player costs..?
