Mel Gibson...Righteous Revenge

Has he played characters like this more than anyone ever? So many of his roles deal with an innocent loved one, family member, wife, girlfriend dying and him going on the warpath to punish, bring justice to the person, people, government involved.

This film SPOILER*****************his duaghter is murdered
Braveheart his wife is murdered
Lethal Weapon II his new girlfriend is murdered and it turns out they killed his wife too
Payback he is avenging himself
The Patriot he joins the war cause when his son in murdered
Mad Max his girlfriend/wife is killed and he avenges himself against the road thugs

Jup, it's true. I like revenge films. Revenge is the only true form of justice where the victim gets what he really wants and the criminal gets punished for what he did.

Something modern justice fails in.

The revenge trope has been a pretty common mechanism since the birth of cinema. To be fair, I think this film can be classified as something a little more substantial than a straight revenge flick.🐭
