Similarities with Planes, Trains and Automobiles?

I grew up watching Trains, Planes and Automobiles (and Throw Momma From the Train, and Lost in Paradise... and Holiday Inn, Christmas in Connecticut, and countless other classics)

I enjoyed Due Date, but I can't help but notice how simular (yet very different) the story is.

The general plot is different (wanting to get back home for a holiday vs getting back home for the birth of a baby) .. and there is many other things that are different.

Yet I can't help but notice how simular these movies are.

I'm not knocking it, or being critical. I guess I just hope

It's a straight-up remake of PT&A. Straight-laced guy (Martin/Downey) gets ride from the airport from chubby stranger(Candy/Zak). Needs to get home to see wife for sentimental reasons (Thanksgiving/baby). Shameless rip-off.
