Is this movie worth watching?

Should I rent it and watch it or don't bother with it??

No, we should really boycott unneeded remakes until Hollywood learns we want something new.

Yes! It's a pretty good movie. Not as good as the original but much better than the sequels and goes deeper into the building of Robocop.

It always seemed strange how in the Original they put him out in the field right after waking up. All he did was go to a shooting range and boom he's good to go haha.

Watch the original again-the development of his systems took place over time, they just didn't show it all as this one did ad nauseum.

"What is an Oprah?"-Teal'c.

I enjoy it better than the original.

I would not bother with it if you are fan of the original movie.

It's boring and not entertaining. It is like they decided to take all the best aspects of the original and *beep* it up.

It depends on whether you're a fan of the original or not. Being a fan of the original myself, I found it rather mediocre as a whole. The worst aspects of this remake are, in no particular order:

- the premise for the whole movie makes no sense, as the director is trying to have us believe that the OCP, the world's leader in unmanned security, considers the USA to be a bigger market than the rest of the world

- the very bland, or should I say non existent, "futuristic" setting of 2024 that looks exactely like the present day, except technology has advanced to the point where you can live on as a brain inside an exoskeleton

- the poor attempts at copying the satyrical news segments of the original that end up looking like they're riffing on the Bill O'Reilly show

- the lack of chemistry between Alex Murphy (before he becomes Robocop) and his family, especially between him and his wife

- a lackluster soundtrack that completely misses the point of the original's. In fact, the only song that really stuck with me after catching the film on tv this week is Harold Arlen's "If I Only Had a Heart", which is used to drive home a lame Tin Man joke

- the power of love is used to override this film's version of the original's 4th Directive

- the action scenes could be considered impressive if they didn't resemble something lifted straight out of a first person shooter video game

My advice is to wait for it to air on tv where you live or to trick some one else into renting it, 'cause "I wouldn't buy that for a dollar" (that's an actual quote from the film, by the way).

It's worth a watch for sure but outside of a few really engaging scenes I found it hard to keep my attention and it's a bit of a bore.

Check it out though and make up your own mind.
