It couldn't be for any reason other than a cynical attempt to make money.

This is a wonderful film. I'm actually surprised something this truthful, about how things really operate, was made. Though stupid people still don't get it.

truthful...good lord. Are you using that as a synonym for 'realistic', in describing a movie in which a cop becomes a cyborg?

I haven't even bothered to see it and I never will. The original can't be bettered. Though no doubt stupid people don't get that.

It isn't trying to better it, it's taking the concept and creating a story from it.

I you haven't even seen it, why do think you are even remotely qualified to say anything about it. The remake wasn't great, it wasn't terrible either. Definitely needed an R rating. But don't act like the original was some kind of master piece. Its a great 80's action flick, don't get me wrong, but a modern RoboCop given to a director with free-reign and no restrictions to turn it into a PG-13 film, there is no reason why that couldn't be better than the original.
There have been worse remakes made (Total Recall) and better ones (Judge Dredd). It just average.

Pretty much everything people do is money you can do pretty much anything with it
To remake/reboot a classic and make it as good or better than the original is pretty tough
The movie blows

Studios trying to make RoboCop a hit again with a PG-13 rating and a "serious not fun tone"
They doing the same thing with Point Break soon. I don't get it because adults don't care about these remakes and the younger audience don't really either.

The RoboCop remake is fu_king terrible. Anyone who tells you otherwise don't know sh_t about movies.
