Politics aside, legacy aside, it's a good film.


I fundamentally disagree with the film's politics.
I think the original Robocop is a masterpiece of sorts.
Neither of those things prevents me from enjoying this as a thought-provoking popcorn movie.

The worst part about the film's politics is that they never make a point. The movie tiredly pouts a couple of times about the morality of drone warfare, shady politicians, f#ck the U.S.A., and not much more. Not politically anyway. These. . . I won't call them points. . . these elements are hammed into a story that does not need or want them. The elements are kind of sort of brought up, then never really go anywhere, since exploring that in any thematic sense would require a stronger rating. . . and talented writers.
