Did anyone finish watching this thing?

I could not get past the first 15 minutes. I don't think "The Rock" is starring role material

I enjoyed it. I didn't take it too seriously. It was fun! Rufus Sewell stole the show for me

I was Sooo close but then it turned into a dumb war movie and I stopped. Hercules is a fantastic myth. One of the best, I mean it's like 3000 years old! You'd think someone would be able to do a decent version my now instead of just a generic action movie with Hercules as a character.

reply

Yeah I made it through all the way... barely. This movie was pretty bad, though I actually The Rock was one of the better things about it. With a better script and director, I think he would have nailed the part of Hercules.

I managed to make it thru the whole thing but only because my eye rolling kept me awake.

Really sadly bad.. I like the Rock guy, but he is awful in this. Might not be his fault as the film as a whole is just lame.

Reminded me of trying to sit thru the horrid "I, Frankenstein".

Really I think the curse of movies like this these days is that they are lamed down in order to meet the PG13 rating.. so they feel like they are made for jr high mentality.

Not I.

Son, you can't polish a turd

Made it passed the opening scene and then deterred back to the computer.

Seriously what a boring mindless piece of crap. That stupid Lion fur he wears on his head is like 1/4 of the size of the Lion when it was alive and my god those CGI snakes in the opening shot were F__CKING TERRIBLE!

I have it on in the background right now and he's about to fight these green dudes.

Seriously if you're going to adapt a tale that is thousands of years old that everyone is familiar with, at least give it a decent budget to work with. I know it's based on a series of comic books but holy sh-t I highly doubt they were anywhere near as bad as this crap.

Does every movie like this have to just rip off 300 nowadays?

Not what I, (or anyone else apparently) wanted out of a live action Hercules.

It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

I guess this would not matter if the movie was engaging enough. 300 was also based on a graphic novel, not the real story.

FYI, I actually completed it twice and last I checked, I'm neither twelve years old nor a fool.

reply

That is a contradictory statement.

It was difficult to get through. The last half an hour is fairly entertaining, but it is a choir to get to that point.

Talk. Battle. "The legend isn't real." Talk. Battle.

When the "good king" is revealed to be a tyrant, that's when things pick up. But getting to that point is almost a labor in itself.
