Not going to give it much thought...

I watched this because Billy Crystal was in it, and not surprisingly, he was the best part about it. The story seemed to be all over the place, focusing on disparate characters without much relevancy, it just all felt too random and poorly developed. I don't know, maybe I missed the point. I didn't think it was too great.

The world is full of pigeons. Pigeons don't do anything and crap on everything.

You're right. I have completely no worth as a human being. Thank you.

I take it you have some affiliation with the film, or just something against people with opinions?

How was James Marsden's character?

reply

His character was decent but underdeveloped, although much of the role takes place off-screen.

Does anyone else see the irony of this statement?

I actually really liked this film. Sorry, no one asked me for my opinion but I gave it anyway :-)

reply

I've just finished watching the movie and I have to agree: he was good (as always), but the character was really underdeveloped

I liked the movie, it wasn't bad at all. I don't know if it hit theaters or went straight to the redbox rentals, where I checked it out last night. It's a dark comedy and usually these flicks have other subplots but they either cohere at the end or they add to the dark comedy; to give it contrast; to flesh it out or give it some flash. The characters are indeed pathetic, all of them but I got the meaning in the end. I moved me but not on a grand scale; it just made me remember that I have the power to change my demeanor or attitude. It's a feel good comedy for me without the Over-Hyped Hollywood Production w/ the "It Girl" and the "It Douche" of the moment. I gave it an honest 7 rating.

i liked the movie. i can't relate to someone who was complaining about the pace and the plot development.
i accepted that it's slow and going all directions. but i did feel sorry for the main character and liked his bond with his brother.
i enjoyed very much the acting, the absurd script lines, like the scene when the cops are at the garage to investigate the murder. i was laughing with tears!
so again i did like the movie and tend to give almost an 8.

I saw the DVD special features; they talked about the movie was made in 20 days
and Marsden was cast two days before filming. The guy said it was a "fast shoot"

I didn't make it to Crystal's part. I made it about 18 minutes in and gave up. I like dark humor and have no problem with "character driven" movies but random people in various states of dress do not make characters. I rarely find movies unwatchable but this one fits the bill.
