this movie is unwatchable

ive tried all this week to re watch it ( ive seen it in theaters years ago) and i can't do it. i just shake my head it is so bad the logic, the way it takes itself so seriously..... maybe i will try a regiment like 10 min a week trying to get through this crap.

Well, Years (plural) so that would be 2.

I don't see how its unwatchable. I enjoyed it. There is a Massive Logic gap at the end but pretty sane until then.

I think it's one of the better horror remakes to come in recent years. Sure there's not much in terms in characterisation or depth. And with the exception of Jane Levy, the acting is pretty mediocre at best (it's kinda ironic that the only time they showed any life in their performances is when they turned into zombies). But it's still an entertaining watch and doesn't out-stay its welcome in terms of running time.

Totally agree. I had so much fun with this one late last night. I was fearing the worst but it was an absolute bloody riot. Loud, nutty, bloody and jumpy, lots of fun. Anyone looking for logic in this type of film is always going to be disappointed.

What was the massive logic gap?

You think that when you die, you go to Heaven. You come to US! - The Tall Man

If I remember correctly it was SPOILER ALERT AHEAD: something to do with needing a set amount of souls to bring the abomination to earth and it wasn't met, yet the abomination arrives anyway? Sorry, have not seen this since it came out.

That is probably it. It threw me at first, but I think we're supposed to assume Mia is counted in the tally even though she got her soul back. The abomination is supposed to look like her.

The problem with this film is the world-building is extremely poor and the characters are not strong enough to make up for any of it. Instead it relies on graphic violence.

Just from a real world standpoint. How exactly is the cabin powered? It's got running water, electricity, modern implements like electric knives and nailguns yet is apparently so far away from society there is no phone or way to get help. It throws away logic for coolness and graphic deaths all while taking itself so seriously.

You're not describing the Evil Dead remake, are you? You're describing Rob Zombie's Halloween. Let's look at the things you listed:

Check.

You were watching the remake of Evil Dead, right? I have no idea how you took it so seriously, because the film doesn't even take itself seriously. The gore isn't really that realistic; and it isn't supposed to be. Like when that girl sawed off her arm to prevent the disease from spreading? You can clearly tell that there is a prosthetic arm attached to hers, and the camera keeps rolling as if you didn't notice. It's that level of self-awareness that makes this film enjoyable. You might say that it's a goof, but then you're also ignoring the less obvious in-your-face moments like earlier in the film when she's sawing the meat with the electric knife, and the camera zooms in impossibly close on the meat as she's doing it. Like, the director knows that they need to show the knife to incorporate it later, but he also knows that horror films do it all the time, so he over exaggerates it to point out how fĂșcking stupid it is. You didn't sit there when the abomination was crawling towards Mia, when it says "I am going to feast on your soul!!", and take it absolutely serious, did you? C'mon. In no way does the remake take itself seriously. That's why it's enormously entertaining.

I love horror movies but this movie is boring as hell. The gore does nothing to me, it kicks in way too soon and is rediculously overdone. This movie has no build up tension, cheap crap!

Cause its total crap, thats why.
