Just rewatching

I saw the Evil Dead Rise. It didn't work for me. So I'm watching this again. I think it's a better movie.

The torment of the characters takes more time. The effects are about the same. The characters are portrayed better as you get to know them better. But it's funny because you get about the same amount of time with them here as you do in the new one.

The inventive ideas worked better. Scalding water, needle in the eye, razor through the tongue, etc... it stays better. In the new one, you have attempts, but aside from the glass eating, it's par for the course.

The characters are portrayed better. The Evil Dead has its share of nominal characters, but the actors in 2013 make it work. The 2023 has two actors that do well, but 2013 does better with three solid characters and two who support well.

The disappointing thing this one started that the 2023 one continued was the eyes of the possessed. The white eyes work really well. You see it in the new one, but not the 2013 movie.
