So did she become the new keeper of the box? It wasn't quite clear to me.
This movie was okay. Somewhere in the middle of the pack when it comes to horror. A little background on that box would've been nice to know. It's not like this was good enough to have a sequel to divulge that info next time.
I liked the film but the ending expected you to remember too much of the brief intro at the beginning

Red & Becker’s dad extracted the box from Mexico & brought it back to the house where inside the box an entity had the evil powers to take over people’s lives & needed sacrifices. Apparently killing her mom(in her dreams) was able for our heroine to break the magic spell the entity had over her. But then after she killed the brothers, she was able to get some powers of her own?(that’s the part I don’t understand)
At least you did better than me. Not sure how I missed that regarding the box.

There were spooky events and ghosts from almost the first scene in the movie. How could you miss that this was a movie about the supernatural?
Because it was already clearly a paranormal story. Did you not catch the fifty scenes that had ghosts in them.
shareMaybe she tired of caring for her mother while putting her own life on hold She finally snapped, and really did kill her mother. The house is actually a psychiatric facility, and what we see is all in her head.
shareSpoilers: My understanding was that when Ambar put the two brothers on the sacrificial altar and the snake/demon/monster/child thing sucked their heads off, she took on the powers that Becker previously had. Had she just run out of the house and left them, this would not have happened. I did, however, assume there would be an epilogue marked 'TWO MONTHS LATER' or some such where Ambar has taken over the rooming house and is welcoming her new 'guests' for the cellar.

shareThe ending is kind of open for interpretation, but yeah I think she did. I agree the movie was just OK and average. I liked the unique design of the monster and wish we could have got just a slight more background on it. Just some of the decisions by the main character were the general, I'm in a horror movie so I must make the most illogical choice, bad decisions.
