The most disturbing scene of the whole movie (spoiler)

I just watched the movie and the most disturbing scene to me is the scene where Dan jumps and it shows his legs literally break in half and his realization after he comes to his senses and look at his legs.. also the closeups of his bones sticking out of his knees.. oh GOd.. I can't talk or think about this anymore...
>>Bathroom vomiting.. no hope of becoming a doctor :P

I was actually a little glad that happened to him. jumping was idiotic, and just kept saying "someone should jump" implying that it should be his friend, *beep* that, no one should have jumped and he got what he deserved. Im glad his friend didnt give into pressure and do it, it was a retarded idea.

A hugely shocking scene, and very realistic. The dawning realisation on his face as he sees his own injuries was - to me - one hundred percent believable. It actually made me feel physically light-headed. For a few moments there I had a genuinely uncomfortable feeling of knowing - for a split second - exactly what that might feel like if I were in his position. What it would feel like in your own mind, seeing yourself - bits of you - all mangled and *beep* The disbelief. The horror.
I thought he'd faint. I thought I'd faint!

Omg that was so awful! Poor Kevin Zegers :(

Oh my gosh - the way it was filmed made it seem we were jumping with him - I could barely look!! Very well done and horrifying scene.

I find your comment highly disturbing. He didn't deserve what he got. None of them deserved the situation they were in. He acted in a moment of panic, and there weren't many options. Waiting was not an option. The wires were very sharp, he knew that. Granted there might have been a better way to jump like holding on to the cart and then letting go (to shorten the distance) or have one of them lock themselves onto the cart with their snowboard on and hold him down to shorten the distance even more. Nevertheless, he didn't deserve it. Let's just say that people are normally not prepared to deal with life or death scenarios, especially one that demands urgent action.

Agreed. One of the few times during a movie I truly, actually flinched. I had read wikipedia before it happened but I was still jarred.

The wifey about jumped out of her skin. (I got a kick out of that)

Agreed. That scene was very brutal and upsetting.

If they could have scaffolded their bodies like acrobats, the last one on the human chain could have jumped down without as much distance to the ground, probably saving a good 12 feet or so.

But, don't know if they would have been able to hold onto each other like that for even a short period of time and the distribution of their weight like that might have brought the lift down anyway, with all of them crashing down.

'Dan' jumped down in the most stupid way...legs first and straightened <sigh>.
